Membership in the Uganda Private Security Organisation (UPSO) is open to licensed Private Security Organisations (PSOs), security professionals, and approved stakeholders who meet the required standards of professionalism, integrity, and compliance with national laws.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for membership, an applicant must:
- Be a licensed Private Security Organisation or a recognised security professional operating in Uganda
- Be duly registered with the relevant government authorities
- Demonstrate compliance with regulations issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Uganda Police Force
- Commit to upholding ethical standards, professionalism, and respect for human rights
Application Process
Prospective members are required to follow the steps below:
- Obtain an application form from the UPSO Secretariat or official website
- Complete the form accurately, providing all requested information
- Attach supporting documents, including proof of registration, licensing, and identification of directors or key personnel
- Submit the completed application to the UPSO Secretariat for review
Review and Approval
All applications are reviewed by the appropriate UPSO committee to ensure compliance with membership requirements. Applicants may be required to provide additional information or attend a verification meeting. Successful applicants will be formally notified upon approval.
Membership Fees
Approved applicants are required to pay the prescribed registration and annual membership fees as determined by UPSO. Payment confirms active membership status and access to member benefits.
Code of Conduct
All members are required to adhere to the UPSO Code of Conduct, which promotes professionalism, accountability, lawful operations, and ethical service delivery within the private security sector.
Ongoing Obligations
To maintain membership, members must:
- Remain compliant with all applicable laws and regulations
- Renew membership annually
- Participate in sector activities and training programs as required
